“A woodpecker can tap twenty times on a thousand trees and get nowhere, but stay busy. Or he can tap twenty-thousand times on one tree and get dinner.” - Seth Godin
Lesson learned: Don’t to peck at a thousand trees if you really want to find results. Peck at one, and peck with all you’ve got. You may find dinner, or you may not. But odds are, all you ever wanted was a reason to peck with all you’ve got.

an email describing a job my cousin just got… at times i get a bit jealous of her random life and jobs. this sounds like a great summer .
Hi Lacey, hope you are well. We would like to offer you a position as a crew leader for our Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area Recovery Corps in PA running from June 30-August 29. These are the student dates- we would like crew leaders to be available from 6/25-9/1. Here’s a little about the site and the programs:
The Delaware Water Gap is just that- a gaping hole in the Appalachians through which the Delaware River flows. This craggy, spectacular gap, on the border of northwestern New Jersey and northeastern Pennsylvania, is more than a mile wide. Yet the National Recreation Area that surrounds the gap offers much more than a break in the rock; it’s 40 miles of the middle Delaware River and almost 70,000 acres of land along its shores. The Delaware River itself, with beaches and boat launches, serves as the centerpiece of recreation-but the surrounding area offers much more. Rocky cliffs stretch straight up, offering great climbing. Wooded hills pepper the landscape, making for awesome hiking and biking. Wildlife? You bet: Deer, beaver, and otter scamper through these woods and waters, while hawks and bald eagles visit. Streams, ponds, waterfalls, and mountain overlooks make for incredible scenery. And though four million people visit each year, that doesn’t mean you can’t carve out your own stretch of solitude.
This program is composed of 5 crews working out of a camp at the DWG on flood recovery work- basic tread and drainage, trail clearing, bridge building, etc. The crews are made up of older high school students and younger college students that will receive a small living stipend and an Americorps Education Award upon completion of service. You will be joined by 11 other crew leaders, a camp cook, and a Program Coordinator on site.
This is a really exciting program and we would love to have you on for it! Please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to accept this exciting program.

So this post is dedicated to two websites which are similar and a bit of good fun: www.woot.com and shirt.woot.com both from Carrolton, Texas.

About woot strait from the woot’s mouth…
What is Woot and who’s behind it?
Woot.com is an online store and community that focuses on selling cool stuff cheap. It started as an employee-store slash market-testing type of place for an electronics distributor, but it’s taken on a life of its own. We anticipate profitability by 2043 – by then we should be retired; someone smarter might take over and jack up the prices. Until then, we’re still the lovable scamps we’ve always been. But don’t take our word for it: see what the online community has to say at this Wikipedia article.
I see only one item, do you sell anything else?
No. We sell one item per day until it is sold out or until 11:59pm central time when it is replaced (see next entry for details).
What is the schedule for new items?
The short answer: we offer a new item every single day. The details: a new product is released every morning at 12am central time, seven days a week. (If you’re not a morning person, this can be described as every night at midnight. Better?) If a product sells out during its run, a new item will not appear until the next release time. You will know if a product is sold out, because the main page says “SOLD OUT” instead of “I want one”. (Clever, eh?)
I missed yesterday’s item, can I still get one?
No. Each woot.com product is discontinued at 11:59pm central time. That’s that. Period. We may get more at a later date if we’re lucky, but we offer no guarantees, we allow no backorders, and we have no waiting/notification lists. Too bad.
So if you skim over and don’t read quotes… these two websites each sell one item every day, changing at midnight, woot selling some kind of tech item and shirt.woot selling a shirt. Each is selling at whole sale price so its cheaper that typical store prices and its a new thing every day. so stop on by set it as your homepage and spend 10 sec a day and see what the new item is.
